About Me
My name is Cayla Cade. I was born on May 22, 2001. I have an aspiration to become a well-known Journalist. I also want to expand my knowledge in public relations, event planning to be exact. Besides journalism and pr, I dance. I mostly do Hip Hop, however, I loved Ballet and Modern Dance as a young girl. I also taught myself how to longboard and I dabble in photography. And of course, I adore writing. My life consists of many ups and downs, exciting and thrilling adventures. My blog will consist of news, opinion stories, tips, and my experiences.
Journalism Experience/Highlights
Howard's Multimedia Journalism Workshop
During my two weeks at Howard's Multimedia Journalism Workshop, I wrote two stories and learned about photography. It was an interesting experience to walk around Washington D.C and conducting man-on-the street interviews. This workshop focused more on health journalism specifically. Going to the hospital and reporting were intriguing.
UJW
UJW stands for "Urban Journalism Workshop." This workshop was held at NPR and sometimes American University. It helped further my learning with Journalism. here were many speakers and mentors at the workshop such as Trina Williams and Alicia Shepard. I gained photography tips and the awareness of the code of ethics. I also learned numerous journalistic terms and how to spot fake news. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend for others to attend.
WJMC
WJMC stands for the Washington Journalism and Media Conference. It was exhilarating. I met people from all over the world. At the conference, we did a seminar where there were two editors and the rest of the people were reporters, trying to convince the editors to put their stories on the front page. It was astonishing to hear the reporters’ reasoning. The conference also helped me with my elevator pitch. This conference taught me to be more outgoing and network no matter where I go.
